Portland Trail Blazers (23-15) @ Miami Heat (8-30)

What’s up with the Miami Heat? 8 wins, 30 Losses? You don’t have to look very far for the cause of the Heat’s futility: depth. Miami has one scorer, Dwayne Wade. Shaq is really only good for about 20 minutes a night, but they have him playing over 30, and that’s not good for them on either side of the ball. After Wade there is an epic drop-off in offensive production and there just isn’t anyone to turn to. The Blazers are near polar opposites. They rely on spreading the ball around and can rely on anyone on the court to come up with some points. Brandon Roy has developed into a very good player, but he’s not a superstar-type guy like Wade. For anyone who knows anything about the NBA it’s not hard to see which team would be more successful. What’s disturbing about Miami is that they can’t even get the job done at home. The Heat are 4-12 at home this year, so they basically have no home-court advantage. Portland is the hot team right now, be smart and ride them until they buck you.

New York Knicks (12-26) @ Washington Wizards (20-17)

The Washington Wizards will have revenge on their minds Friday night when they host the New York Knicks. The Knicks have been pretty awful this year, though they have won their last 3 games in a row including winning 105-93 at Washington Tuesday night. Don’t be fooled. Nothing is fixed in New York. The team has no respect for their coach, and barely for each-other at this point. Three wins in a row might help a little, but it won’t magically solve their problems. The Wizards are sharp at home and hold an edge in every major category going into this game. That’s not to mention that they are going to want to redeem themselves after being embarrassed by the Knicks a few days ago. This line feels like an overreaction by the books (which means an overreaction by the public) to a few NY wins. This leads me to believe the Wizards win in a blowout.
